MATCH 1

Scott Oliver vs Tom York

Scott Oliver 5'8" 154 24yo
Tom York 5'10" 145 24yo

Scott (black and white speedos) saw Tom (red speedos) wrestle big Chris March in Rec Room Battles 9 and immediately told NHB he wanted to challenge Tom. Scott said he had been working out since his match with Jace Davis and was much more ready to wrestle in a challenge match. The match was set.

Tom is a real tough, blond wrestler. He is very strong for his size. Scott has his work cut out for himself. Immediately, Tom took control, but he couldn't keep Scott down. He had a real hard time getting a good hold on Scott. Scott may not be as strong, but he sure is more versatile and wiry. Scott proved to be a worthy opponent. Tom tried all his wrestling skill, but Scott was able to break every hold. It was only a real power move (that Tom used when he was tired) that made Scott give.

The second and third matches were much more even - a very fair exchange of holds; double head-scissors are awesome to look at. Both these lean, tough wrestlers were straining with everything they had, and it shows. These guys are good wrestlers, and great to watch. You'll see a lot more of them on NHB Battle.

MATCH 2

Vinny Reno vs Greg Conlon

Vinny Reno 6' 195 29yo
Greg Conlon 5'11" 190 24yo

SHOOT FIGHTER vs. WRESTLER! ! Greg (black bike shorts) is a trained UFC fighter in Shoot Fighting. He competes, works out, and practices regularly. Having seen Vinny (black speedos with grey stripe) in other NHB matches, he told NHB he wanted to challenge Vinny. Vinny never turns down a challenge, in fact he thought this would be a good practice match before his rematch with Mike Adams (coming soon).

Greg is one tough guy. For the longest time he just played with Vinny. What great shape Greg is in. He hardly broke a sweat, and the only heavy breathing you hear is from Vinny. As always, Vinny is as tough a wrestler as any other, extremely strong, with a wide knowledge of all submission wrestling's moves and holds. After all, he took a wrestling medal in Amsterdam this summer. He is not about to lose a match without a real tough struggle. These two guys really go at it.

Greg shows his training. He is on his back throughout the first 15 minutes, but never gives up a vantage position. He counters, moves, and fights like a true pro. Vinny does his best to use the combination of holds that he is so good at, but Greg counters everything. It seemed like Greg was just laying back, waiting for Vinny's big mistake. But that doesn't happen. Vinny is much too knowledgeable to make a mistake on the mat.

Greg decides to turn on the pressure, using many different submission holds. One figure four head scissors had Vinny reaching way inside for some extra energy, but he escaped. The more Greg puts the pressure on Vinny, the tougher Vinny gets, at times totally reversing Greg and having him on the verge of submission.

This is a one fall match, over 20 minutes without a stop or a submission to the very end. You're gonna be surprised at the outcome. Somehow, NHB doesn't think this match is over yet!

MATCH 3

Mike Adams vs Greg Conlon

Mike Adams 6'1" 215 21yo
Greg Conlon 5'11" 190 24yo

SHOOT FIGHTER vs.WRESTLER! ! Greg (blue speedos) is a pretty cocky guy (no pun intended). He wasn't satisfied with his challenge to Vinny Reno, he also wanted to take on Mike Adams (purple speedos). Mike is bigger and tougher than he was a year ago, and Mike's cocky attitude doesn't win him any friends. (He recently got arrested at Grand Central Station for pushing a cop.) Twice during this match, NHB had to stop the match because they were throwing each other off the mat. Not too much wrestling here, but one hell of a fight.

Greg had just fought a UFC Fight 2 days before his match with Mike. He had been hit a couple of times pretty hard, although he won the fight in less than 5 minutes, and he was afraid he had a concussion. But that didn't stop him. NHB warned Mike that this UFC style was going to totally frustrate him, and NHB couldn't have been more correct. This match is a brawl. There is no decisive winner, you'll have to judge that for yourself.

These big guys tried everything. The frustrated Mike Adams tried every wrestling move he could, but Greg had a counter for them all. Unfortunately, Greg isn't able to overpower Mike at all, so Mike powers out of every arm bar and wrist lock, figure four and full nelson. But what a site. Mike strains with all he's got just not to submit. "He never had me even close to giving up" said Mike after the match. That's Bull.

If you like a fight, you'll like this match-up.
