MATCH 1
Roger Bennett vs Vinny Reno
Roger Bennett 6'4" 203 31yo
Vinny Reno 6' 205 29yo
This is Roger's (stripped speedos) challenge. He flew to NYC from Texas just to challenge Vinny (purple speedos). He had actually watched Vinny wrestle in the Amsterdam games and has wanted to wrestle Vinny every since then. Of course, he had full confidence that he could handle and beat Vinny. He wrested this match with tremendous confidence. He was able to power out of just about every move and lock that Vinny put on him. He used his long legs to keep Vinny struggling for a good hold. Not only are his legs long but they are real strong - he's been wrestling and working out for years. Vinny soon learned that he needed to watch out for Roger's legs.
Vinny is taking every challenge he can get. He's bulking up and working out for a rematch with Mike Adams. That match is already scheduled and one to keep watch NHB for (you'll remember their rivalry from Rec Room Battles 1 and 2). Vinny wants matches with good wrestlers, like Roger.
These big guys are both trained wrestlers, knowing all the moves and holds and counters. It's a real struggle, and challenge for both men. It's a long match with only one submission. Both these guys go the distance. Multiple arm bars, various scissor holds, cross faces, head locks - and all the others. This match has all the wrestling that a good wrestler can imagine. NHB had no idea who was going to come out on top until the very last few seconds of the match. SUPER MATCHUP!
Match 2
Eric Malley vs Justin Knolls
Eric Malley 5'8" 156 27yo
Justin Knolls 5'10" 152 28yo
Justin (blue speedos) is a member of Wins Club on Long Island who contacted NHB after seeing Eric (purple speedos) in Wanna Wrestle 5. Justin is a wrestler and has been wrestling since he was in high school. He challenged Eric to a submission match and had great confidence that he could beat the "Irishman". Justin was in for a surprise. Eric is strong enough to wrestle 200 pounders and win. Justin wasn't prepared for that kind of power.
Eric used his power to completely overpower Justin in the first few minutes of the match. But Justin was not about to lose. He tried using all his wrestling skill to get the upper hand. Eric kept putting more and more pressure on him. Justin tried to laugh off the power of the inexperienced Eric, and did manage to get a couple of real good wrestling moves on him, but Eric proved to be just too strong.
Once Eric started using his powerful legs in all kinds of awesome scissors, it was the beginning of the end for Justin. When Eric turned Justin over and clamped on a head scissors and arm bar, it was all over for Justin. He took it for a while, even trying to "talk" his way out of those powerful legs, but to no avail. Eric Malley fans will love this one. You'll see a lot more of both these wrestlers in NHB matches.
Match 3
Darrin Hoffson vs Asante
Darrin Hoffson 6'5" 189 31yo
Asante 6'1" 182 26yo
If ever NHB thought we were setting up a mismatch, this is it. In fact, in the spirit of a real competitive wrestling encounter, we almost didn't let this match happen. Asante (red and black speedos) is a body builder, very powerful, and not a bad wrestler. He is in good cardio shape, well muscled with attitude. We just didn't think that Darrin (blue speedos) would be able to handle this strong dude. Man were we wrong.
Darrin has been traveling the USA and Europe for the past 2 years, wrestling every chance he gets and taking on all challenges. He has wrestled some of the best submission wrestlers and it shows in this match. Asante is completely overwhelmed in the first match. He just didn't know how to handle the long, lanky arms and legs on Darrin. Darrin always had a second major hold on Asante before Asante could get out of the first. It's a brutal match. Darrin really shows his stuff.
In the second match, Asante is more prepared, even if he has to fight dirty, which he does quite effectively. Darrin is more pissed than hurt when he has to submit in a toe hold. His judo arm-bar was not fast enough to prevent the squeezing and bending of his toes.
The third match is incredible. Both wrestlers are much more ready for the tactics of each other and neither wants to say that final "I Submit". It's a super struggle to watch. Both wrestlers take a lot and give a lot and both show just how tough he can be. Darrin's long legs are used to the max, and Asante's big guns are sore from the flexing and squeezing, but the brawl continues. This is a good NHB style submission match that our "real wrestling" fans will totally like.
